Framed Dalhia

Hi all,

First, I want to apologize for this horrible picture. If it’s sunny tomorrow I’ll try to take a better one. It’s night fall and the task lights in my studio just don’t seem to do this card justice at the moment. I didn’t use a challenge today. *gasps* I’m shocked. But, I wanted to try something completely different. I decided to use glossy modge podge on my old olive background. My original idea was to make a really cool looking purse. I realized though that I didn’t have a die to cut one out. So, I’ll have to make my own template from scratch. I was lazy and didn’t want to do it today. 🙂 Needless to say, I scrapped the idea for the time being.

I used two different Fiskar plates for this card. The diamond and the fabric. I’m not sure I completely like this design. I also used a provo craft die for the frame around the flower. It’s actually a corner die. But, I realized it worked well to frame the flower. I’ll have to keep this in mind for future cards. 🙂  The curly q’s on the outside of the frame are punched pieces from the corner die. The flower is a template from Martha Stuart. I printed the flowers and cut out four of about 15 flowers in total using my snips. This can be tedious, but really quite simple. I’m not real crazy about the paper I used for the flowers though. It’s okay, but I would like to try a different pattern the next time. I used one 1 flower and 1 pearl from the Pretties Kit from SU.

On the diamond background I used modge podge to make it glossy. You can’t really see it in this picture.  😦 The Top Note was done using the fabric fiskar plate and then I stamped versa mark all over it. Then I embossed it using metallic bronze embossing powder. I purposely didn’t emboss all of it. I think it looks cool fading into the background in the top right corner. I used pumpkin 1/4″ ribbon and two of the red Fire Square Rhinestone brads by SU. The sentiment is from the “Always” set. Something seems to be missing from this card. I can’t quite put my finger on it yet. Okay, time to rest for a bit. Thanks for stopping by to take a looksy.
