Please Forgive Me?

Hi everyone,

I feel like such a schmuck! *Let’s out a big yell “aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh” like the kind Lucy does from the Peanuts Gang when she gets zapped with “dog germs” *

Well, I was able to make a challenge card. However, when I was done with it I liked it so much that I want to send it to a good friend of mine for her birthday.  Soooo, I can’t really post it till my friend has had a chance to see it. I really hope she likes it. I can tell you it has at least 3 of the challenges included in it for TEBB. I know the challenges are over, and I truly struggled with these challenges for some unknown reason. I kept wanting to make a card using the very first color challenge posted by none other than Taylor herself. The colors were EYE POPPING! And I was determined to make a card using some of those colors. Alas, it seemed the harder I tried the harder it became to settle on a layout and/or color scheme. Aye karumba!

But, I was determined to do at least one challenge. Well, then I started stressing about how close it was to the cut off. Finally, I threw my hands in the air walked away and came back to it yesterday. I started from scratch and looked for another challenge altogether. It was obvious I was getting no where with the one I “wanted” to do.

Wouldn’t you know it? I was able to put something together (and fairly quickly too I might add) and I would have had plenty of time to post it for the challenge. But, I really want my friend to see it first. So, if you can bear with me a few days longer I’ll post it Tues/Wed of next week. I appreciate your patience.

I can tell you the 3 challenges I used…

Challenge #3: Hosted by Donna – Paper piercing

Challenge #7 Hosted By Dawn – Paper Tole

Challenge #9 Hosted By Sharon Harnist – Color challenge

Thanks  so much for understanding. Please forgive me for not posting a number of cards for this challenge. I know I built up the challenge and had very high hopes of doing all 13 of them. Little did I know I would have such a hard time just doing one! Thanks for stopping by. I promise to post the card for the TEBB challenges next week. Sooner if she gets it before then.

God Bless,

P. S. I don’t know what’s going on with the feed burner or my counter?? If only I had had 11,000 visitors. I expect someday I might. So, I’ve managed to get the count right for that. But, I have to check into the feed burner thing.  Hopefully, it’s something that’s rather simple to fix. One can only hope, right? hahahaha

smsazHey everyone,

Okay have you had one of those times when nothing seems to gel? No matter how hard you try?? I’m having one of those moments. It seems I just can’t get my brain to work for the TEBB challenges. I think of something and then I’m off and running in a completely different direction. And, what’s worse is that it is more than one direction. I can’t seem to stay focused on one layout or stamp or color, or, or, or. It’s driving me crazy!!!! It just doesn’t seem to want to come together for me at all! Grrrrrrrr….maybe I’m trying way to hard? My brain feels like mush as though it has imploded. I want to show you something, but I honestly have nothing to show you “yet”. 😦 😦 😦

I don’t have one card complete and there are only two days left for these challenges!!!! Aaaaaaaugh!  I’m going  to set things aside – straighten up the studio and take another go at it when I feel the right thing has come along. Gotta go….

Summer Picnic

Summer Picnic

Hi all,

This is a little late. But, better later than never! I wanted to do Karen’s sketch challenge for this past Sunday. I really liked the sketch this week. Oh, whooooo am I kidding? I like all of Karen’s sketches! LOL  Unfortunately, I don’t always have time to do them. 😦

Anyway, I wanted to use the stamp set “Simply Summer”. It’s a darling set. And well, as you can see it works very well for a simple clean layout. 🙂  I basically stamped the image on very vanilla with basic black. Then I filled in the image using my blender pen with the ink colors – summer yellow, old olive, rose red, and baja breeze. I cuttled the entire summer sun layer (4×5.25) and cut a piece of the Tea Party DSP. I used my largest Marvy scallop punch for my background with my image. I used my Signo pen to give the pierced holes a different look. And, I stickled the image as well. I used a corner punch to hold my summer sun card stock in place along with Tombow glue.

I’m placing the sentiment inside which will read “A sunny hello” along with the sun image (also from the same set) with Birthday Wishes in my own handwriting. Folks have told me I have really nice handwriting, so I’m going to try incorporating this into future cards as much as possible.  You know the drill…everything is in “The Buzz“. 🙂

Taylored Expression’s Birthday Bash Celebration!

Holy cow! There’s going to be a birthday bash over at Taylored Expressions. I went to Karen’s blog to see her Sunday sketch challenge and that’s when I saw the news. We are all invited to join the celebration! Hot dog! Cuppy is turning 1 year old. How cute is that! I don’t have any of their cute stamps (yet). But, you don’t have to use their stamps in order to join in the festivities and challenges.

They are going to have prizes, prizes and more prizes! This is going to be a great way for me to get my mojo back. So, if you are a visitor/reader of my blog and would like to participate in this challenge with me, I say LET’S DO IT! For more information hop on over to Karen’s blog The Sweetest Thing or Stamp A Sweet Impression for all the details. This is going to be fun and I can’t wait! I am so excited. WooWhoo! Maybe I’ll win a prize?!? That would be sssssweet!

Sorry so short but I’ve gotta run….

God Bless,

Framed Dalhia

everythingalways Hi all,

First, I want to apologize for this horrible picture. If it’s sunny tomorrow I’ll try to take a better one. It’s night fall and the task lights in my studio just don’t seem to do this card justice at the moment. I didn’t use a challenge today. *gasps* I’m shocked. But, I wanted to try something completely different. I decided to use glossy modge podge on my old olive background. My original idea was to make a really cool looking purse. I realized though that I didn’t have a die to cut one out. So, I’ll have to make my own template from scratch. I was lazy and didn’t want to do it today. 🙂 Needless to say, I scrapped the idea for the time being.

I used two different Fiskar plates for this card. The diamond and the fabric. I’m not sure I completely like this design. I also used a provo craft die for the frame around the flower. It’s actually a corner die. But, I realized it worked well to frame the flower. I’ll have to keep this in mind for future cards. 🙂  The curly q’s on the outside of the frame are punched pieces from the corner die. The flower is a template from Martha Stuart. I printed the flowers and cut out four of about 15 flowers in total using my snips. This can be tedious, but really quite simple. I’m not real crazy about the paper I used for the flowers though. It’s okay, but I would like to try a different pattern the next time. I used one 1 flower and 1 pearl from the Pretties Kit from SU.

On the diamond background I used modge podge to make it glossy. You can’t really see it in this picture.  😦 The Top Note was done using the fabric fiskar plate and then I stamped versa mark all over it. Then I embossed it using metallic bronze embossing powder. I purposely didn’t emboss all of it. I think it looks cool fading into the background in the top right corner. I used pumpkin 1/4″ ribbon and two of the red Fire Square Rhinestone brads by SU. The sentiment is from the “Always” set. Something seems to be missing from this card. I can’t quite put my finger on it yet. Okay, time to rest for a bit. Thanks for stopping by to take a looksy.

Many Thanks

Hey everyone,

Well I got “a”card done. I have many more to do. 🙂 But, this is a good start. I was surfing the other day and found another sketch challenge by Stamping 411. I was playing around with this design, otherwise I would have had it done a lot sooner. Go figure. I really like sketch because it is very minimalistic for what I needed. It worked perfectly for the many Thank You cards I want to send to folks who celebrated my Dad’s life. Hope you like it.

Okay so here’s what I did.  I started with the cuts the gals recommended at Stamping 411. This is probably the shortest explanation I’ll ever have to give. I used a small flower punch and used pomegranate card carstock and black. I used my white Signo gel pen for the center. I used my edge punch (can’t remember the brand) for my black layer. I stamped the heart from the set Always (SU). I stapled a small piece of ribbon the side of it. The sentiment is from an Anna Griffen set I’ve have for a very long time (like a decade!) I love the font though. Very pretty. :0) Okay, the buzz is below.
