Hello,

Well I’ve been a busy bee for some time. Taking time off  has been good for me. I was finally able to make it to a stamp camp last month. Hopefully I can go this month too! I was so glad to see the ladies. I’ve missed them terribly. I feel refreshed and wanting to take on some new projects. Part of being busy has included a newer look for my studio space. I found a wonderful layout in a magazine that I would love to see in my space. And, what’s even more exciting is that I don’t have to modify it all that much because my room is actually larger than the space in the magazine. I am going to re-purpose a few pieces of furniture  I already have and they are getting a fresh coat of paint. The only thing that will be new for the most part are a few cubbies I received as Christmas presents, some storage containers, and the counter tops. I need to keep the cost low so I will be using MDF board. I will take some before and after photos when we really get to the nitty gritty of it all. Right now I am up to my neck in empty containers to fill and store all my goodies.   So, I’ve been trying to organize many of my things prior to the “big change”. I believe this will be my last conversion for a studio. One can only hope right? I’m sure  I will be content with this layout. My heart just feels at ease every time I look at the picture in the magazine. 🙂

What seems to work for me is placing all my items in sections.  So, I got started on that a couple of weeks ago when I began thinking about all my stamps. I don’t know about you, but I tend to forget what I have. I used to sort them according to manufacturer. But, this just became a nightmare for me. Instead, I decided I was going to stamp all my stamps onto printer paper and arrange them in categories in a binder. I don’t have many categories nor do I have many stamps compared to most ladies in this hobby. And, I am fine with that. 🙂

Actually, this is a relief. I was able to find a couple of second hand bookcases and placed the stamps in baskets, boxes, or containers according to their categories in my binder. Needless to say it worked out beautifully for me. And, now that they are sorted they go right back onto the shelf in their proper categories when I am done.

The best part of all is that I know what stamps I have at a glance because of the binder. ANNNNND, I can mix and match my stamps to my hearts content. What a difference it makes not having to sort through piles of stamps just to find the one I want which was usually at the bottom of the pile. Now I just sort through a few or if necessary I take the container out and look through it instead of a small mountain of stamps. I also found it to beneficial for all those loose orphan stamps I never really knew what to do with.

I know I could have done a better job on my binder. But, all I could think of at the time was get them on the page and in the book! I stamped over 1000 images. I don’t recommend this for someone who has a ton of stamps in their collection. It would probably take you a year. Although, you could have a stamping party and have fun with it. I also realized that if I want to sell my stamps later all I have to do is take it out of the binder inventory and that’s that. I also put my pages in protective sleeves just in case I have inky fingers when I’m thumbing through it.
