Scraps from the past…

I nearly forgot to share one other thing I’ve recently been doing while organizing my studio. I know some of you can’t bear to throw out a scrap of paper anymore than I can. Hey this stuff adds up after a while! Right? I don’t like wasting money anymore than the next gal.

So, I had my mom come over one day to sort all my scrap. Yep, she really did sort it for me. I just couldn’t. It was one of those things that just seemed overwhelming at the time. She did such a great job that all I have to do is sort them according to card stock and DSP.

While I was sorting I decided that I wanted to even things out as well. No 2 1/4 x 3 sizes for this gal! So I lopped off the fraction and have nice even sizes for whatever I want. And nothing is over the standard size (4.25 x 5.5). If I want a larger card I can still use all the scraps I have available.  So while I was working on my second drawer of different sizes/colors/dsp’s, I ran across a color combination I just had to put together. It’s amazing what comes out of your “scraps from the past”. I found all these things in my scraps other than the flowers. I made those the other day after I had punched them the week of Easter. So, now I have twelve of these lovely little flowers looking for a home. I told you I don’t have the heart to throw paper away. For example the cuttlebug background was meant for another project but I didn’t like how it looked. So, I threw it into the scrap pile and now it worked perfectly for my little flowers that I think look a little like daffodils. One of my favorite spring flowers. Okay…well have a great weekend. I’ll post more when I can.

Refresh My Heart

Hello fellow bloggers/stampers,

I know you haven’t seen me in a while. But life in general has kept me busy. Taxes, preparing mentally for an event in November. I’ve thought long and hard about this, and I know it’s been a pattern with me to take some breaks from my blog. But, I have to be honest, I can’t be on here everyday. I can only hope you understand. I am going on a little hiatus from now until next January from my blog. Read more…

Framed Dalhia

everythingalways Hi all,

First, I want to apologize for this horrible picture. If it’s sunny tomorrow I’ll try to take a better one. It’s night fall and the task lights in my studio just don’t seem to do this card justice at the moment. I didn’t use a challenge today. *gasps* I’m shocked. But, I wanted to try something completely different. I decided to use glossy modge podge on my old olive background. My original idea was to make a really cool looking purse. I realized though that I didn’t have a die to cut one out. So, I’ll have to make my own template from scratch. I was lazy and didn’t want to do it today. 🙂 Needless to say, I scrapped the idea for the time being.

I used two different Fiskar plates for this card. The diamond and the fabric. I’m not sure I completely like this design. I also used a provo craft die for the frame around the flower. It’s actually a corner die. But, I realized it worked well to frame the flower. I’ll have to keep this in mind for future cards. 🙂  The curly q’s on the outside of the frame are punched pieces from the corner die. The flower is a template from Martha Stuart. I printed the flowers and cut out four of about 15 flowers in total using my snips. This can be tedious, but really quite simple. I’m not real crazy about the paper I used for the flowers though. It’s okay, but I would like to try a different pattern the next time. I used one 1 flower and 1 pearl from the Pretties Kit from SU.

On the diamond background I used modge podge to make it glossy. You can’t really see it in this picture.  😦 The Top Note was done using the fabric fiskar plate and then I stamped versa mark all over it. Then I embossed it using metallic bronze embossing powder. I purposely didn’t emboss all of it. I think it looks cool fading into the background in the top right corner. I used pumpkin 1/4″ ribbon and two of the red Fire Square Rhinestone brads by SU. The sentiment is from the “Always” set. Something seems to be missing from this card. I can’t quite put my finger on it yet. Okay, time to rest for a bit. Thanks for stopping by to take a looksy.

The Plan of the Master Weaver

God reminded me of this poem that I have had for years. Throughout the years I have given it to others as a comfort because I feel it speaks volumes to those who are grieving. And now, with my own loss, it seems only fitting that I keep these words close to heart when I am reminded that Dad is no longer with us. If you know someone who could use these comforting words you are more than welcome to copy it for yourself.

The Plan of the Master Weaver

Our lives are but fine weavings

That God and we prepare,

Each life becomes a fabric planned

And fashioned in His care;

We may not always see just how

The weaving’s intertwine,

But we must trust the Master’s hand

And follow his design.

For He can view the pattern

Upon the upper side,

While we must look from underneath

And trust in Him to guide…

Sometimes a strand of sorrow

Is added to His plan,

And though it’s difficult for us,

We still must understand

That it’s He who fills the shuttle

It’s He who knows what’s best,

So we must weave in patience

And leave to him the rest…

Not till the loom is silent

And the shuttles cease to fly

Shall God unroll the canvas

And explain the reason why—

The dark threads are as needed

In the weaver’s skillful hand

As the threads of gold and silver

In the pattern He has planned.

How’s My Tooth?

Things have been …well…not great. I never managed to get relief from the prescriptions given last weekend. As it turns out my dentist had to up the ante on my pain meds on Monday, and then Tuesday my face swelled up beyond recognition because the Amoxicillian wasn’t working . Not cool! So the dentist changed my antibiotic as well. I am happy to say that I am no longer on vicaden (YAY!) and the antibiotic I’m on now is finally starting to kick in. I still have swelling and this is Friday. My face has felt like a human Popsicle for so long I don’t know if I’ll really know what the warmth of the sun feels like on it. hahahaha

Next Thursday I will be in the chair for the root canal swelling or no swelling. My dentist says the longer I wait the worse the infection could get. I am believing in God’s will. Whatever needs to happen will happen. I’m praying for 90% of the swelling to be gone when I go for the root canal. I know some of you may be thinking why not just go for a miracle and have the tooth healed. Well, because I don’t believe that that would be God’s perfect will. He sent me to this dentist after searching for 2-3 days. I believe there’s a reason for everything. I don’t know how God is going to touch this man. But, I know I was placed in his dental care for a reason. 🙂 I’ve been given 2 financial blessings as well. God says to be content in all things. He didn’t say we had to like it. But, he did say in his word to be content. I don’t like the pain or the suffering I’ve had to endure lately. But, my own pales in comparison when I think of all the pain and suffering Jesus had to bear on the cross.

I hope to get a couple of cards done this weekend what with Father’s Day coming up. I hope all of you are doing well and are in good health? Thank you for stopping by. Maybe I’ll get a chance to do some challenges this weekend too?

God bless all of you….Sazxoxox

Under the Weather

Hi everyone…I am sorry I haven’t posted anything new to the blog this week. I’ve been dealing with a terrible horibble  toothache. I was able to get to a dentist yesterday (Thurs), but I am still far from being out of the woods. I broke my tooth a couple of months ago and since it wasn’t sensitive at the time I let it go knowing I would have to pay out-of -pocket-expenses for a dental visit.  Unfortunately, I did not get as much time as I had hoped. I happen to love popcorn. And, one night I was “grinding” on some popcorn and I guess I “ground” my teeth together just a little to much. The next day I was in a bit of pain. But, I thought I could get away with taking a couple of Ibuprofen and be on my way. Except that is not what my body was telling me. Well, from that point on this here ole tooth gave me fits from time to time. Then a friend of mine told me about this Dentemp stuff you could put in your tooth. I tried it and it didn’t work. In fact, my mouth was more sore than the day I put this stuff on it. Egads. I think I might have sealed in the infection and since it didn’t have anywhere to drain or ooze from (sorry for being so gross), it simply just kept getting worse and worse.

Now I am at the point of having to take 500mg of Amoxicillian and  Tylenol 3 w/codeine because the pain is just so excruciating. And, since I haven’t been getting much sleep due to the pain, I’m simply exhausted and have had no energy to do anything but lay down and try to rest as much as I can. I can honestly say, I would much rather have a baby again than to have this stinkin toothache any day! Having a baby is a cake walk compared to the level of pain I am experiencing at this point.

I did not work today and that is something that just doesn’t happen very often. So, I hope to get back on my feet and start putting things on the blog again soon when I begin to feel more human. In the meantime, have a super weekend!

If you are a praying kind of woman, please pray for me when I am brought to mind. I would greatly and truly appreciate it. And, I know God will honor your faithfulness and compassion.

Thank you and God Bless Sazxoxox
